Merton's Lair is the personal web site of me, Matthew Raymon Washington, a web specialist, GNU/Linux system administrator, web designer and programmer, and musician (by hobby).

If you are interested in my Web2.0 applications built in PHP, please check out the projects page. There you can view the project, as well as download the source code for your own personal use (NOTE: these applications are written by me and covered under the LGPL). I occasionally write articles on various subjects (IT, politics, religion, and other miscellaneous subjects) and post images of my various adventures in the gallery. For those of you who wish to find out what has been happening in my life lately, please check out the news section. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay.

Yeah, I can conjure flameI was born in Riverside, CA in September of 1983, but moved to Big Sky Country when my father transferred to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT in 1988. After graduating from Great Falls High School in 2001, I hopped over to Helena, MT to attend Carroll College for a degree in Biology; however, I soon realized a career in Biology wasn't something I wished to pursue and moved back to the G-Funk. After a little bit of figure-shit-out time, I found a renewed love of computers and enrolled in MSU - College of Technology, Great Falls for web development and MSU - Northern for Computer Information Systems. I soon found a position at Sofast Communications as a customer service representative and, quite briefly, Shortgrass Web Development as a web developer before I was promoted to System Administrator for Sofast Communications. Unfortunately, the business was unable to continue operating due to financial constraints and closed its doors at the end of 2009. I have since been employed by Cascade County as a Web Specialist, designing and programming features for our web site.
